Regex for Gender
Age of a person validation using regex is achieved in this case to check if the age is above 18 years or above (until a maximum of 99 years). In this article let's understand how we can create a regex for gender and how regex can be matched for gender values.

Conditions to match a Gender value
The value has to be one of the following-
- Male
- Female
- Other
Regex for checking if its a valid Gender value
Regular Expression-
/^(?:male|female|other)$/igm

^ asserts position at start of a line
Non-capturing group (?:male|female|other)
1st Alternative male
male matches the characters male literally (case insensitive)
2nd Alternative female
female matches the characters female literally (case insensitive)
3rd Alternative other
other matches the characters other literally (case insensitive)
$ asserts position at the end of a line
Global pattern flags
i modifier: insensitive. Case insensitive match (ignores case of [a-zA-Z])
g modifier: global. All matches (don't return after first match)
m modifier: multi line. Causes ^ and $ to match the begin/end of each line (not only begin/end of string)
